Thought of the Day August 9, 2026

Dubie’s Thought of the Day:

In the case of most people I suspect their political alignment is less of a policy decision and more about community and acceptance. When I agree with the people around me, I feel welcome, when I disagree, I feel rejected. Fear of loneliness is a powerful motivator.

To move past the conflict that currently defines our times, we need to see value in others apart from what they think, know, or believe. We need compassion for all as the basis of our perspectives and see that while ideas grounded in hatred, greed, and ignorance are our enemies, the humans holding them are not.

Our attachment to “us vs. them” in our daily lives lacks the capacity to solve any problem. Conflict only sustains conflict. We can, if we are willing to put in the effort, disagree from a place of compassion and rid the world of at least our own capacity to hate.
