I Find It Difficult to Write

(Guest Post From Mac)

It is hard to write these days.

At least in a public way.

Surrounded by demands to be afraid

Outraged at every turn

AI

Wars

Gas prices

Masked secret police executing peaceful protesters

the end of democracy,

our economy,

no jobs,

no hope,

holy fuck…

Pepper spray is the only sweetness to be found in this rose.

Manifesting a veracious appetite for peace and well being

social media sprang into being.

Conflict without end.

All consuming.

All co-opting.

One goal to be gained from an ever decreasing source.

Terror and hate monetized.

We have become the grass, the cow, and the hearty steak on the billionaires’ plate.

Tax the rich,

eat the poor,

comply with the oligarchy and their badge festooned monks of violent coercion.

Are you from here?

Do you have a job?

In what ways are you available for exploitation?

AI will end your career!

Better learn how to use AI!

Your intelligence isn’t valuable anymore when it comes to my profit.

8 million people in the streets asking politely for a few crumbs and the illusion of respect.

8 million people sacrifice their weekends to make sure they don’t sacrifice their owner’s margin.

Enslaved to fiction we toil in fear.

Enslaved to convenience we eschew our freedom.

Enslaved by valueless expressions of merit we gather dollars,

Focused on escaping the misery of the effort.

What the fuck is going on?

Chaos is the unavoidable condition.

Control the source of suffering.

Drip drip drip the water rises.

Drip drip drip the chamber fills.

How will we breathe if we can’t walk away?

How can we walk away if this is our only path?

How can we see the open field unless we wake up

and end this dream?

How can we learn to write again

When the only place we can start from is here?
